Immerse yourself in a one-day workshop exploring the work of the late sacred activist, Joanna Macy, embodied in the Dances of Universal Peace. The event will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5090 Center Street NE in Salem, Oregon. Workshop activities will run from 9am to 5pm, and then there will be an evening program of Dances from 7 to 9pm to integrate the whole day.
Joanna’s legacy, known as the Work That Reconnects, “helps people around the world discover and experience their innate connections with each other and the self-healing powers of the web of life, transforming despair and overwhelm into inspired, collaborative action.” There will be ritual, song, dance, meditation, and other activities that help us find our truth and energize us to bring our gifts forward into the complex needs of our world. The event will be led by four veteran certified leaders of the Dances of Universal Peace: Munajat Marti Dimock, Kalama Reuter, Ka Ginger Hayra, and Saraswati Andrea Burke.

Full-day registration at the door is $35.00*; full-day pre-registration before January 1 is $25.00.* To pre-register, please send an email to Kalama: kalama@embarqmail.com, and then go to https://olypeacedances.org/donate/ to pay your fee, checking “class donation”. The public is also invited to join in the culminating evening dance for $10, at the door only.
*Amounts are suggested donations. A greater donation is welcome. No one is turned away for lack of funds, so please attend if you wish to and cannot afford the fee. Donations cover leader expenses and contribution to the UU for use of the space.
There will be a lunch break – it is recommended that you bring a lunch. Dinner break will be from 5 – 7pm.
