Sema of Hope, the Ceremony of the Whirling Dervishes
On Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm, we will offer our annual public Sheb-i Arus “wedding night” Sema Ceremony, in remembrance of Sufi mystical poet, Hz. Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, who demonstrated through a lifetime of words and actions how Peace is possible on a Path of Love. This ceremony is prayer through movement and music, inspired from tradition dating back over 800 years, layered with rich symbolic representation of the human being’s spiritual journey. The event features the prayer movement of the Whirling Dervishes attuning to the music of the heart. Classical, devotional Turkish music journey by trained musicians.
3:00pm Doors close. Ceremony begins.
Please note: SEATING IS LIMITED. $25 ADVANCE TICKETS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
If we do not sell out online, then any remaining tickets will be available at the door (cash only) for $30 General.
Students over 11 years old and Seniors (with ID) $20 at the door only on the day of the event.
Seating is intimately close to the semazen (whirling dancers) and between attendees.
*If you are having symptoms of illness (ie; sore throat, runny nose, coughing, fever, etc), please stay home and do not attend for your safety and others. Your ticket will be refunded per Brownpapertickets policy. Come again next time!
Please understand that the ceremony is intended to be a spiritual journey. All are invited to join us in the present moment, free to see, hear, and enjoy! For the concentration and focus of the semazen and musicians, no flash photography, recordings, photos or video of the event are allowed (unless by an assigned member of our community).
All attendees are asked to turn off/silence cell phones for duration of the ceremony.
